9/13/24 | Braves breakout rookie hurler has been 'hidden gem,' says new report. In some respects, it's a miracle the Atlanta Braves are still in the hunt for the postseason. The Braves are perennial preseason World Series favorites nowadays, so on the surface, it's a disappointment to be one game out of Wild Card position on Sept. 13. One moment that could have derailed the Braves' season altogether was ace pitcher Spencer Strider's season-ending injury all the way back in April. Strider, Major League Baseball's wins leader in 2023, made just two starts in 2024. Source: https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/atlanta-braves... |
9/10/24 | Phillies injuries coming at a not-so-great-time. Just ask the Atlanta Braves, a team whose season has been negatively altered thanks to season-ending injuries to star pitcher Spencer Strider and two of their best offensive weapons, Austin Riley and Ronald Acuna Jr. The Phillies are not dealing with injury issues quite as acute as theirs, but they entered their three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays as banged up as they've been all season. J.T. Realmuto is out after fouling a ball off his knee Friday night in Miami and likely will not play until this weekend against the Mets due to fluid accumulation in the joint. Austin Hays is on the 10-day IL due to a kidney infection. Source: https://billypenn.com/2024/09/10/hittin-season-sto... |
9/04/24 | Why Braves could reportedly lose one reliable relief pitcher after 2024 season. The Atlanta Braves have been plagued all season by injuries, but they've managed to stay in the fight. Despite losing stars Ronald Acuña Jr., Spencer Strider, Ozzie Albies, and Austin Riley for extended periods, the Braves maintain a slim 1/2-game lead on the rival New York Mets for the final National League playoff spot. Anchored by Raisel Iglesias, who recently retired an incredible 38 batters in a row, the Braves have been locking down tight games late, allowing them to weather the storm of an inconsistent offense. 8/25/24 | One Player Braves Must Promote For Playoff Stretch Run. The Atlanta Braves are having a season to remember—in all the wrong ways. This has been the most injury-riddled season in recent memory for the Braves. Currently, the team has five players from their Opening Day lineup that are on the injured list, with three of those being season-ending. You would think with that many injuries to some of their star players—Ronald Acuña Jr., Spencer Strider, A.J. Minter—there's no way the Braves would be in playoff contention. 8/21/24 | Banged Up Braves Struggling to Fill Out Lineup Card. “We're having a hard time finding the next man up,” manager Brian Snitker moaned. “We're just going through a really weird time right now,” All-Star pitcher Reynaldo López said through a translator. — NL MVP Ronald Acuña Jr. sustained a season-ending knee injury in late May, one year after becoming the first 40-70 player (40 homers, 70 stolen bases) in big league history. — Ace pitcher Spencer Strider, coming off a franchise record for strikeouts in 2023, made it through only two starts this season before a torn elbow ligament ended his campaign.
