5/24/24 | Rays Fall To Royals For Fifth Straight Loss. The Kansas City Royals (33-19) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (25-27) 8-1 on Friday night at Tropicana Field. For the Rays, it was their fifth straight loss. The Rays got a run in the first inning after Jonathan Aranda grounded into a force out, and that would be the only run the Rays would get on the night. The Royals would got two in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to build a 8-1 lead en route to the win. The Rays look to snap their skid when they meet the Royals in the middle game of the three-game series on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Chris Adams-Wall hosting the Inside Pitch at 3:30 PM on 95.3 Source: https://969thegame.iheart.com/content/2024-05-24-r... |
3/23/24 | Tampa Bay Rays Have Long Valued Versatility, Which Is Needed As Injury Bug Bites. Jonathan Aranda was recalled from Triple-A Durham three times during the 2022 season and again in 2023. In bits and pieces adding up to 66 games across the two seasons with the Rays, he hit all of .212 with a .656 OPS in 165 at-bats. Despite Aranda's struggles against big league pitching, albeit in small sample sizes, the Rays' belief in the infielder has not wavered. With his ability to play multiple infield positions as well as serve as a DH, the thinking was Aranda would not only stick with the big club out of spring training, but be a valued contributor in the lineup.
