Boston on Friday announced in a press release that it optioned reliever Greg Weissert to Triple-A Worcester and selected left-hander Joely Rodríguez from the WooSox. James Paxton also was transferred to the 60-day injured list likely ending the veteran's season. Weissert last pitched Wednesday against the Houston Astros where he pitched a scoreless 2/3 innings.
