The San Francisco Giants were able to walk out of Petco Park with a win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday, but it wasn't all that friendly in the dugout. Marco Luciano and Tyler Fitzgerald collided after they both went for a fly ball, the two teammates then had to be separated in the dugout after an argument started to get heated. Third base coach Matt Williams acted quickly to break it up before things went too far and turned into into a coachable moment for the two rookies. Baseball America wrapped up its final prospect rankings of the 2024 regular season as it unveiled its Top 30 prospects for the San Francisco Giants on Friday. The site had already ranked first baseman Bryce Eldridge as a Top 100 prospect, moving him up to No. 37. Now, the site has re-ranked the rest of the system, with infielder Marco Luciano — who is with the Giants — was ranked No. 2. The San Francisco Giants are giving their rookie another look at the MLB level, but another weak stretch could have big implications in the long term. MLB.com's Maria Guardado looked around the Giants' roster for the person with the 'most to prove' down the stretch and came up with rookie Marco Luciano. "Once viewed as the shortstop of the future [in San Francisco], Luciano is now expected to get an extended look at second base in September and try to show that he's capable of learning the position on the fly in the Majors," said Guardado. For the second time in a month, Marco Luciano is in the big leagues with the promise of a long runway to show what he can do. Tuesday afternoon's call-up from Triple-A was the third of the year and second since the All-Star break for Luciano, although the last one proved to be much shorter than he expected and the Giants said it would be. After dumping Jorge Soler's salary on the Atlanta Braves, they talked of letting Luciano be the everyday DH, but it wasn't long before Jerar Encarnacion, Michael Conforto and others were soaking up those at-bats.
