8/31/24 Zach Neto making impression as Angels host M's. The Los Angeles Angels will host the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif., ready to get a good look at many of their young prospects over the final month of the regular season. Shortstop Zach Neto, 23, already is recognized as an above-average defensive player, but his numbers at the plate this year have turned some heads. On Thursday against the Detroit Tigers, Neto hit his 20th home run of the season, becoming just the second Angels shortstop to hit 20 homers in a season, joining Jim Fregosi (22 in 1970), who is Angels' royalty.

8/30/24 Angels prospect Sam Aldegheri endures rough debut in loss to Mariners. Sam Aldegheri knows all about carving an improbable path from humble beginnings so his major league debut is not likely to get him too far off course. From a small town outside of Verona, it was not exactly a hospitable welcome for Aldegheri, who gave up five runs in the first inning. All of them were unearned when sure-handed shortstop Zach Neto failed to squeeze his glove on a line drive hit right to him by Jorge Polanco. Instead of what would have been the final out of a scoreless inning to begin Aldegheri's time in the major leagues, two runs scored on the Neto error.

8/29/24 Neto homers, rookie Kochanowicz pitches 6 shutout innings and Angels beat Tigers 3-0. Zach Neto homered, rookie Jack Kochanowicz pitched six shutout innings and the Los Angeles Angels ended a seven-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Detroit Tigers. Los Angeles had lost 12 of 14 and were 1-8 going into the last game of their road trip. Detroit had won six straight, but left 10 runners on base on Thursday. Kochanowicz was spectacular in his sixth major-league start, allowing five hits in six innings. He struck out four without walking a batter. Tigers starter Keider Montero allowed three runs on five hits and three walks in five innings.

8/19/24 One If By Land, Two If By Seager.

Quietly, Corey Seager (2-for-3, 4 RBIs, 27th and 28th homer) has stayed healthy all year. ‘Quietly’ because I think if you would’ve told anyone that he’d play in 95% of his team’s games he’d be a top 20 guy, easily. Before yesterday, he had thirty more at-bats than Zach Neto and exactly the same amount of value on the Player Rater. Please, blog, may I have some more?

8/12/24 Angels’ Zach Neto feeling confident near top of lineup. Neto, who is hitting .394 in nine games since moving from the bottom third of the order to the second spot while his OPS has ballooned to .794 for the season, sees himself as “a top-five shortstop in this league.”
