9/17/24 Slumping Anthony Volpe taking a seat again for Yankees' opener vs. Mariners. SEATTLE — After starting 139 straight games, Anthony Volpe is getting his second day off in the last eight games on Tuesday. The Yankees' streaky shortstop will be on the bench to start Tuesday's series opener against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park, manager Aaron Boone said on his weekly podcast with Jomboy Media, with Oswaldo Cabrera getting the start against right-hander Bryan Woo. Woo is especially tough on right-handed hitters — holding them to a .179 average and .491 OPS in 37 career starts — so Boone explained the decision as wanting to get more left-handed hitters like Cabrera in the lineup. 9/14/24 Yankees' take on Anthony Volpe hitting for higher average with many worse stats. Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe was at the plate and having a good at-bat in the second inning of last Saturday's game with the Cubs at Wrigley Field. When plate umpire Mark Carlson got it wrong and called strike three, Volpe went out of character and showed some anger before returning to the dugout.

8/23/24 Lifelong Yankees fan Anthony Volpe excited to celebrate 2009 champs at Old-Timers' Day. Last year's Old-Timers' Day was naturally special for then-rookie Anthony Volpe, but Saturday's commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the 2009 World Series championship team means even more to the lifelong Yankees fan. “It was the only one in my lifetime, so that'll be awesome,” Volpe told The Post before the Bombers took on the Rockies on Friday night in The Bronx. “Last year was definitely special, just to meet and see a bunch of people I look up to.” It will be the 76th Old-Timers' Day for the organization, which has dedicated the day to honoring members of its most recent championship team. Volpe, who was 8 when the Yankees last won, said he remembers watching the title game with his family

8/22/24 Yankees' Brian Cashman responds to Anthony Volpe demotion chatter. The people mentioning a minor-league reset for New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe are the media and fans, according to general manager Brian Cashman, because he certainly isn't thinking about it. Despite Volpe's underwhelming offensive production — .249/.299/.387 with 11 home runs, 47 RBIs, 22 steals and a 91 OPS+ over 564 plate appearances entering Thursday — Cashman told The New York Post that Volpe is a major-league player and that means struggling (and eventually flourishing) there. “We haven't talked about (a demotion),” Cashman said in a story published Tuesday.
