9/02/24 White Sox pitcher Thorpe having elbow procedure. Chicago White Sox right-hander Drew Thorpe will undergo surgery to shave down a bone spur in his pitching elbow, the team announced Monday. Thorpe, 23, is expected to start spring training without any restrictions. The procedure will be performed Saturday at Golden State Orthopedics in San Francisco by Dr. Kenneth Akizuki. 9/01/24 White Sox' Drew Thorpe will have season-ending elbow surgery. Drew Thorpe, who may be part of the White Sox rotation of the future, is done for the present. The Sox announced that Thorpe will undergo season-ending elbow surgery on Sept. 7. The 23-year-old right-hander said after Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Mets that the operation in San Francisco will shave down a bone spur in the elbow. “When I first got the imaging done, it showed up in there,” Thorpe said.
