9/06/24 | Tigers' future stars surprisingly named top two prospects in MLB by insider. Detroit Tigers fans haven't had much to get excited about over the past decade. Miguel Cabrera withered away into retirement. Javier Báez turned into one of the worst free-agent signings in Major League Baseball history. The Tigers are above .500 after the All-Star Break for the first time since 2016 this year, and now it looks like they could have some of the very best prospects in the sport. 8/21/24 | Can Padres' Manny Machado Hit 500 Career Home Runs?. While a plethora of achievements are recognized in Major League Baseball, few records get more attention than career home run totals. This prestigious group only has 28 members, with the most recent member, Miguel Cabrera, joining in 2021. Recently, Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees hit his 300th home run, prompting many people, including Yankees teammate Juan Soto, to wonder if he could make it into the 500-home run club. In response, Deesha Thosar of Fox Sports released a ranking of 18 current players who have a chance of entering the exclusive club. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/padres/san-diego-padres-new... |
6/04/24 | Future Detroit Tigers' Hall of Famer Visits Own Artifacts at Baseball Hall of Fame. Former Miami Marlins and Detroit Tigers' legend Miguel Cabrera stopped by the Basbeall Hall of Fame this week and took in some of his own artifacts in a cool story out of Cooperstown. @MiguelCabrera swung by the Hall of Fame on Tuesday and reconnected with a jersey from his 2013 MVP season on display in ¡Viva Baseball! Cabrera, who retired after the 2023 season, is going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer himself, but it's still cool to see him get an early snapshot of things on display. 4/22/24 | This Date in Baseball - Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers becomes the 33rd member of the 3,000 hit club. 1903 — The New York Highlanders won their first game as a major league team, 7-2 over the Washington Senators. 1913 — New York Giants ace Christy Mathewson beat the Phillies 3-1, throwing just 67 pitches. 1939 — Rookie Ted Williams went 4-for-5, including his first major league home run, but the Red Sox lost to Philadelphia 12-8 at Fenway Park. 1946 — Ed Head of the Brooklyn Dodgers no-hit the Boston Braves 5-0 at Ebbets Field. 4/15/24 | Don't Look Now, But The Detroit Tigers Just Might Be Contenders. MLB's two Central Divisions are actually among my favorites to watch on an annual basis. The Cubs and Cardinals over in the NL Central are the closest thing there is to “haves” in the flyover divisions. Now it wasn't all that along ago that the Tigers were the class of the AL Central, though the clubs led by Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander, David Price, Magglio Ordonez, Max Scherzer, Victor Martinez and others never did quite win World Series rings.
